The Haunting of Emmie Jenkins is an online escape room from Masters of Mystery.

The Plot
On January 24th, 1964, The Preston Police Department received a call at 23:40. The caller said they had heard loud gunshots coming from their neighbour’s house. Police quickly arrived at the Jenkins Family home and found all members dead, each one in a different room.
Police also found a 3-page ransom note that was on the dining table asking for money in return for Emmie. Police interrogated anyone with connections to the family, but no one knew of anyone named “Emmie”.
On inspection, each page of the note is written in different handwriting matching that of the family members…
Did the Father, Mother and Daughter write the ransom notes? What happened the night of the murders? Was anyone else present that night? And who is Emmie?
What did we think of The Haunting of Emmie Jenkins?
Unfortunately, we were disappointed with this escape room.
The graphics were poor, not filling the screen and instead having an unattractive riddler-esque background which wasn’t fitting with the theme of the game at all.
The first challenge bested us, we just couldn’t work it out so we decided to use a hint, which would add 5 minutes to our finish time. Unfortunately, the hint wasn’t a hint, it was just the common-sense instructions on how to play the game so a total waste of time (literally).
The game had spelling mistakes throughout and at one point the instruction was to look for letters to solve the clue when the game actually required you to look for numbers, sending us down entirely the wrong path.
There were some fun elements to this escape, the inclusion of a paranormal investigators website which they have set up outside of the actual game, looking for clues there in real-time, and then using back within the game being one. Unfortunately, again the design of this website was poor and fell below the standard we have seen from their competitors.
Conclusion
The plot is extremely loose, with very little from the opening description playing out within the actual puzzles or outcome.
If this was your first experience with an online escape room you might enjoy it, but it’s just not very good in comparison to the plethora of other options available out there.
