We came to The London Bridge Experience with high expectations, drawn in by promises of an interactive adventure through the gruesome history of London. Unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired.
The entire attraction felt like a watered-down version of other similar experiences, particularly The Dungeons. While the actors did their best to inject humor into the tour and the sets were visually appealing, the journey through history felt rushed and lacked depth.
From the start, it became apparent that the London Tombs Scare Attraction, touted as a free extra, might be included simply to avoid selling tickets separately. The entire tour felt like a hurried walk through various scenes, with little time for immersion or appreciation of the carefully designed sets. The information presented was interesting, but the pacing left much to be desired.
The lack of clarity regarding the authenticity of certain elements, such as bones in the floor, added confusion to the experience. The actor delivering information about the great fire of London started talking before the entire group had entered the room, and we were swiftly rushed out, missing the chance to fully absorb the scene.
The attempt at storytelling by meeting characters along the way fell flat, as it felt more like actors delivering a script than an authentic interaction. The actor in the pub scene discussing Jack the Ripper continuously breaking character with a weird schtick about forgetting his lines which dragged us out of any immersion we felt.
Upon reaching the London Tombs Scare Attraction, the disappointment continued. While families were offered a guardian angel tour to avoid jump scares, this service was denied to adults with certain health conditions, which felt discriminatory. The brief 35-minute journey through time, including the maze, left us questioning the value for money, especially considering the steep ticket prices at £29 per person and £100 for a family of four.
In conclusion, the London Bridge Experience failed to live up to its promises, delivering a hurried and superficial tour that left us questioning both the quality and the value of the attraction.
