With them all settled into their new home we decided the time was right for a The Haunted Museum Nottingham Review
Their website says the museum is home to evil spirits, 1000’s of haunted items, possessed dolls and a mirror room said to turn visitors mad, we didn’t find a mirror room but one of our number came away feeling sick to her stomach
We showed up on a rainy Sunday and were welcomed by helpful and friendly staff and given the lowdown, they ask for no video once you pass through the ivy-covered gates and into the main museum but out in the entrance way there are cabinets containing animal remains, a doll, the same design and made the same year as the infamous Annabelle alongside a replica of the movie doll, a huge slimer from Ghostbusters and a well-stocked gift shop, we loved the ready to go spell bags! The only thing we missed was a branded magnet which we would have loved to add to the collection
This place is packed with cool stuff to look at, and carefully placed mirrors give you an extra fright. We walked through to a room with a wedding dress that made me feel instantly nauseated, so sick that I thought I was going to vomit and had to escape the room.
You are left to wander through the exhibits at your own pace although we were frightened half to death by a very light-footed member of staff who appeared to open a locked case to allow us to hold haunted human skulls, (it was lovey to meet you Elizabeth) this was a unique experience and really sets The Haunted Museum Nottingham apart from other similar establishments we’ve visited.
Heading upstairs (the museum isn’t wheelchair accessible) you find rooms filled with dolls, including Billy from SAW which was used in one of the movies from the franchise, some other fun movie replicas, and some original Hellfire Club artifacts, an asylum room which we weren’t blown away by but it did leave us wanting to learn more about it so it definitely has its merits.
The top floor contains a very impressive Regan doll and exorcist scene and a frankly horrifying clown room. We loved seeing that there was a live paranormal experiment taking place with cameras set up in a doll house, again, this is something that sets them apart.
