Experience the lively Brixham Pirate Festival, an annual extravaganza featuring a crew of novice brigands and buccaneers. Set against the charming backdrop of Brixham, Devon, this swashbuckling event unfolds over the Early May Bank Holiday weekend, offering a delightful blend of seaside revelry and pirate-themed entertainment suitable for the entire family.
Dubbed as the “annual gathering of the world’s most infamous pirates and humble scallywags,” this celebration has flourished over the past decade into a widely popular homage to all things piratical. Set in the historically rich port, once home to smugglers and pirates, the festival promises an authentic experience.
Explore the harbor, where a plethora of pirate-themed activities await, including live music, street performers, theatrical displays, balloon artistry, historical re-enactments, fancy dress competitions, children’s activities, and specially themed food and beverages. Daytime and early evening events cater to family fun, while later hours offer adults the chance to enjoy extra rum rations at the numerous harborside bars.
Join the festivities by donning your pirate attire (a tradition embraced by many), and take a stroll around El Galeon. The entire town transforms into a sea of “skull and crossbones,” accompanied by the sounds of seagulls, shanties, skirmishes, and hearty pirate exclamations. The lively atmosphere ensures a genuine party experience for all attendees.
